Riding School at DVG Show Stables

Our experienced instructors focus on developing a strong foundation that allows riders to improve quickly and safely. Our reliable horses and our flexible scheduling allow us to service a wide range of beginner age groups. We believe that riding and caring for horses teaches people a strong sense of responsibility and we take pride in molding minds, young and mature, in a positive family environment.

Riding Attire for Safety

  • Riding helmet: recommended brands- I.R.H., Charles Owen, G.P.A.
  • Paddock Boots: recommended brands- Ariat, Dehner, Grand Prix
  • Half Chaps: recommended brands- Ariat, Tred Step, Grand Prix, Ovation
  • Hair Nets
  • Black Gloves
  • Breeches: recommended brands: Ariat, Tailored Sportsman, Pikeur, Romfh, Equine Couture
  • Collared polo style shirt
  • Riding Crop

Lesson Packages

Introductory 1 and 1/2 hour private evaluation riding lesson: $75

Includes a 30 minute tacking up lesson and a 30 minute untacking lesson for a total of 1 1/2 hours, ‘Necessities For Riding’ not required for first lesson however we do require a boot with a heel and protective headgear such as a bicycle helmet otherwise we can provide a helmet. A completed release form must be signed before commencing the lesson.

Depending on the rider’s skill level he may participate in either a group or a private lesson to be determined at the evaluation lesson and at the discretion of the instructor.

Half hour private lesson: $60 
1 hour group lesson with 3 or less people: $60
  • Student must be present at least ½ hour prior to lesson to tack up.
Package of 8 lessons: $420
  • 2 lessons per week to be used over a month period (weather permitting)
Package of 4 lessons: $220
  • 1 lesson per week to be used over a month period (weather permitting)

Should weather not permit the use of all lessons within a month period we will roll over the missed lessons.

We require 24 hours’ notice of a cancellation or you will be charged for the lesson. If weather does not allow for a riding lesson a “dry lesson” on horse care and stable management will be offered. There are no refunds for lesson packages unless there are extenuating circumstances.
